  • Scaffolders! How much do they earn a year, 1, 1.2 mil?

Trying to get quotes to get roof access. Need 10m in height, 5m in length on one face so no corners. Or 15m with a single 45 corner. On pavement, i can get permits easy enough, boarded at top level only, single ladder access. For 1 month.

First guy wanted £5.5k, told him to go milk some other poor bastard. Second guy wants £3k, or £3.5k with permits. Permit is £101 a month, £25 a week to extend, requires one form on council website and they push it through in under a week. So caught him fucking up there, £399 to "admin" a single form. Both were quoting for the short section.

Real price in my mind is around £1500 first month, then a few hundred a month to extend.

Am i way out of touch, or are all Scaffolders minted?

Feels (very) light. It's going to be a day's work at either end for 3-4 guys, right? Hard to see how you make a million a year charging £3k for that.

  • The mil comment is a joke. The price is a joke, just trying to figure by what % is a piss take
He said him and one other a day each end plus travel. But a day to them is 5 hours of actual work, fecking hard work breaking scaff, but it's their choice to get into that industry.

If it was our own land /access /no risk of public being hurt, its another matter, few hundred quid to hire a quick tower and just mince on with it. But liability aspect is huge as its a busy pavement so have to use contractors with liability policies in place = £££
