  • Obligatory Rolex stock check in Heathrow T3.....got a smile at least.

Surprised by the 39mm Tudor BB 58 in blue. Nice size and not thicc. Just not for me.

  • I thought it was a pin buckle until it turned up. Terrible choice. It’s not a nice looking strap either so I guess most people are gonna switch it out immediately. Should’ve charged extra and included a bracelet IMO.

  • Watchnation have a code for 20% off the orange dial at the moment.

Ha, thanks for that. Glad I held off for a couple of days.

  • There's a padi one I'd love (if I actually dived)....or at least live near the sea and snorkelled and/or surfed regularly.

Although after wearing a gshock for swimming and general beach stuff, I can't help but think how much nicer it'd be to do all those activities with something with 50g of resin rather than ½kg lump of stainless steel.

I guess diving and snorkeling don't use hands much tho.

  • That's the one. Absolutely spot on.

    But...

    EUR 1,150 for the SPB313J1

  • Polar white dial is what I'll be keeping an eye out for. Seiko watches are one of the few things that are cheaper here in Aus.

  • Did it have another choice for the strap? Could you have gone with something else?

  • No. Could’ve ordered additional Sinn straps/bracelets from the distro but it came on what it came on.

  • Unfortunate and also a bit sad. I still think it's a good looking watch (if not for the strap)

  • That dial is amazing. Let me guess, £!?

  • Best part of 9 grand i think 😬
EDIT: that's Dollars so only the £7200 odd then but i can only find the price in Dollars so maybe U.S only at the moment

  • Looking good, how's the clasp?
If you're. going full 'poor mans Ed White' you'll need to switch the hands out next ;-)

  • That’s the “poor man’s” bit. That and the 1861 vs 321.

The clasp is very nice and well made, but the inner milled parts have a "straight out of the CNC machine" quality to them. They are brushed, but the corners have not been taken off them at all, so the edges are a bit sharp feeling when you take the watch on and off. Very different to a Rolex folding clasp where all the parts are polished all over and the corners are rounded off. Omega still aren't quite there, even on their really pricey bracelets.

  • Does anyone have a Bulova Lunar Pilot?
I am looking for a new watch to mark me starting a new job, and this in on the short list.1
Wondering how tall it is as well as general dimensions/ wearability.

I have a number of dive watches that I wear in a rotation, looking to jazz it up a little.
Hoping it runs a little smaller than a dive watch (being battery powered I hope it is slimmer)

Also, looking for suggestions for a slimmer watch in the sub £400 range.
Dressier than a dive, but bigger than a classic dress watch (40mm or so ideally)
    Ideas?

  • A couple of 40mm+ slimmer dressier sub £400 options? Different dial colours available for all of those. The Orient stars are well reviewed and i got a cheaper Orient auto for my dad and its remarkable what they are doing for the money

  • PRX is on my radar, need to go try them on.
    Forgot about Presage.
    Thanks for the ideas

  • Yup. I do. Quite like it but it is large. I'm sure I've posted pics. Feels large like the Helson but much lighter and thinner.

  • I'd like to see the finish of Orient star up close its obviously GS inspired but i think it looks great for £399.

  • Helson is probably the chonk of my collection (aside from the GX56s)

Large is fine for me, I am large so it doesn't notice too much.

Its the "thin" bit I am looking for.
Need to find a store with stock and I can go try them on.

Or just buy a Citizen NH8380-66E and add another dive watch to the collection

  • The PRX is a solid deal and a lot of look for the money.

The autos are a bit bigger than I wanted them to be but if 40mm is what you’re after then it sounds like it would fit the bill.

  • Presage / Cocktail Time is a nice choice too for sure. I would say it looks more expensive than the PRX.

  • Nobody ever comments on my Rolex, which is how I like it, it's why my dad bought this one, to fly "under the radar", and since he gave it to me I've had the same experience. Until I was on holiday in America and a guy who was working at Trader Joe's mentioned it straight away. I was just trying to find out where to get children's cartons of juice and this guy was going nuts for the "patina on the dial". I don't know how to deal with people who are over enthusiastically gushing like, "I see a guy who comes in here with a few different APs but none of them are as nice as that. That's real class right there!" I just had to say thanks and kind of shuffle off.

I kind of did the same to a flight attendant on the way home though who was wearing a Vacheron. I feel guilty, but I was initially suspicious it was fake, who knows. I just said it was a nice watch and you don't see many Vacheron at all, so what a treat, and he just smiled at me knowingly while giving me extra miniature bottles of gin and saying, "here's another treat for spotting it."

  • Lol - first of all - sorry to hear that. I would react the same way and not know what to say.
Second of all, clearly you’re in the wrong TJs. I had a 20 minute conversation about hiking with a TJ employee, who was probably in his 60s, this week after he noticed I was wearing the same trail runners that he wears 😅

  • Coming back to this after 24 days and the CSOC sw200 is only 4 seconds slow. Maybe it's oscillated in this time period I don't know.
