  • A long time ago I was looking for a solution for my GFs WFH situation. Her organisation is rather backward with IT, and their remote working option is to login to a desktop computer at work using Microsoft Remote Desktop. With their setup, this can only be done through a PC running Chrome.

We've put Parallels onto her MacBook Pro to run MS Windows (we don't have a PC), installed everything and she can login to her work computer. But, and it's a big but, the window which opens to work in is tiny. About a quarter of her laptop screen. And there appears to be no way to make it bigger. Is this because her work computer monitor is 1366 x 768 resolution and her MacBook Pro resolution is much higher?

The offending window is in the screenshot, it's the one with the display settings of her work computer. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Are you sure it's actually Microsoft remote desktop and not the chrome remote desktop? I think the latter is more of remote access whereas the former usually takes the native resolution of what you're using to access it.

What happens if you unplug the monitor or plug in one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07YMTKJCR

  • Alas, the computer is in my GFs office at work. It's not really possible to unplug anything, as somebody would probably come along and re-try to plug the monitor back in. As far as I'm aware it's a weird setup with MS Remote Desktop through some ancient IT equipment #publicsector
