Took the day off to watch the senior TT and couldn't resist popping out this morning.

Practicing on the Sherco earlier. Not too easy to catch how steep this little drop is.
Arms outstretched, forks compressed, ass off the back as far as possible.

Thanks for mentioning. Just seen via tweeter coverage from 3.30, fingers crossed for the sidecar team.
@pdlouche good effort, looks crazy steep from here so must be almost vertical.
I launched myself too enthusiastically into a deep puddle today and almost went over the front, was a lot deeper than I thought. Also slid down a steep flint hill with in first gear with the back brake fully on, was interesting.

Update. Not sure if this is legitimate but I would have to presume so.

Yep it's now official. Think they're angling for tomorrow but not sure if they'll have enough marshalls. Well my crate of beers won't drink themselves...

Yea it was more or less a sheer drop at that angle. Took a few goes to be confident to do it over and over.
There are other steeper climbs and drops around it, working up to them!

You may find it easier in 2nd, than 1st. You’ll have less engine braking but what you have will be controllable. You’ll keep more traction while trying to moderate the speed.
When I’m on the DR it’ll be in 2nd on inclines I am unhappy going down. Lots more potential to use clutch and brakes. Then, I’ll use some front brake to slow down, while moderating the back with clutch. If you touch rear brake it’s over.

Too hot here for off road - boo. The rear won’t slow you on steep descents, there’s very little weight on it. You can use a good fistful of front though.
For pants-pooingly steep stuff, I pull the clutch in as you tend to stall the engine when you tap the rear brake. (or the idle is high enough it pushes the bike forward in gear....)

Fair comment. The last few months I've been amazed how much front brake the bike can handle, presuming your bars are straight. Recently I've been trying to slide the rear on occasions to get more comfortable, with a view to eventually sliding it round corners with some strategic throttle. But I might be dreaming about that last part.

…fingers crossed for the sidecar team.
Not a good outcome, very sad to read the news.

Nah it's a doddle - also the most damned satisfying bit of dirt riding for me. Just find a flat spot and practice. You'll be doing big, lurid power-slides everywhere before you know it.
It's still relatively easy to do them on tarmac (on full knobblies only!) but it wears out your tyres in a hot minute.

That's better than the original if it was framed correctly though

You’re complaining about the framing on a photo that was incorrectly framed?
That's ridiculous and egregious and all that crap.
