Are these the new ritchey classic stuff? The high polish surface was a pain to the point where I was getting the bars slipping even when torqued up tight. Bit of carbon paste on the surfaces sorted it straight out. I imagine a light smear of carbon paste on the top few inches by the clamp should be fine

I've got major problems with alu slipping in Ti too.

Degrease, consider a different seat clamp (the Enigma one I have can do about 7Nm, if greased)

Probably going to switch out for carbon though.

I ended up fitting a double clamp seat clamp on my Enigma. It's got one bit that clamps the seat tube in the usual way, but also has an extra bit above that which clamps the seat post directly. Works well, and the extra weight is minimal.

Another option is a tester approved seatpost clamp that’s a bit thinner and spreads clamping load more evenly, whilst allowing the bolt to rotate. Think the bbb one was what he recommended

I had a carbon seatpost in my old steel frame when I initially brought it, not a fan.
I had issues with my previous titanium frame and the thomson seatpost slipping in that, not sure why it's a thing, but glad there are solutions as the constant readjustment gets annoying after a while.

A light coating of cheap hairspray worked wonders for me on a slipping seat post.

Never had an issue with alu or Ti post slipping in my frame. But yes, carbon assembly gel will definitely help add some friction.

Where can i pick up some decent reasonably priced titanium bottle cages please?

I got both of mine from Condor Cycles, but it was 6 months apart due to them only having one in stock. Also depends what you consider to be 'reasonably priced'.

I had a Thompson seatpost that kept on slipping in my steel frame. Solution was to cut a rectangle out of a beer can to use a shim (I slotted it in at the same height the clamp was at on the stem). I also thoroughly degreased and used carbon grip paste (these didn't work without the shim sadly).

I used the search function, can’t find the forum consensus on PlanetX Ti frame sets. Any opinions?

I don’t particularly like their logo, and none of their Tí frames seem to have shorter seats stays. I don’t know anyone who owns a Px Ti frame and admits to it, and I’ve never come across one in person though, so no idea of the workmanship.

I’d get one. They’re still mad cheap right? Not gonna bear the value for money in the Ti world there imo.

I bought the Tempest last year. Can't fault it really, it's been great for commuting and off-road.

It's pretty stiff. I haven't ridden any other gravel bikes to compare, but you definitely feel it on hard bumpy surfaces. I've got 50mm tyres on there now which helps.

The welds and finishing look good to me, some areas are perhaps a little industrial but I don't think it's any worse than other ti frames at twice the price or more. I'd definitely recommend them.

I forget who Planet X use for their frames now but it's one of the well known factories, Waltly or Titan or something. So the quality is good and there are frames coming out of the same shop for double the price.

At least one maybe more of the Sonder ti frames are not far off Planet X prices at the mo, was quite tempted personally - maybe worth a look

It seems Titan have packed it up, or at least shut down their client facing website. Shame really, they could deliver full custom at the price Planet X is charging for their Tempest.
