I've got one of these under a very heavy steel cabinet which in turn supports my drill press - life saver in my tiny shop.

I was looking at one of those in the Axminster sale, and may go for it in future. But #slabofmdf will do for now. Good to know they are useful though, cheers!

Added an 18mm MDF top to the bench for a bit more flatness and a more sacrificial surface. Also put some castors on the bandsaw stand but realised that a lot of its stiffness comes from having the friction from all four feet on the ground. Two castors don't lock so it's a bit loosey goosey now. Will cut a rectangle of MDF and fit the castors and stand either side of it at some point. Should stiffen it up.
