Decent. Was enjoying the end. Bass drum maybe a bit too prominent.

Probably to be honest! Getting carried away with the MFB 522, forgot how good the kick is. Cheers!

• #3204
Very nice! Can you please describe your setup? Nice and compact

Cheers! The Blackbox is a sampler and sequencer, that's playing the drone/pad sound, plus the ride sample and a toploop.
It's also sequencing the kick, snare, clap and hat on the small analogue drum machine on the far left, the MFB 522 which is a take on an 808. Blackbox is also sequencing the Make Noise 0 Coast.
The Bluebox is a 6 stereo or 12 mono channel mixer with reverb and delay, plus the ability to record to SD card. The OTO Boum on the far right is an analogue 'warming' unit, with compression and drive.
That's set up in send/return into the Bluebox and the MFB 522 is going through that. The sound is straight from the Bluebox no post production in the DAW as I wanted to test using the OTO Boum soley as mix BUSS compression/drive.
Might be a little over cooked but I'm still getting use to its quirks!

selling a roland mc707 in case anyone interested, £525

Finally have some cash on-hand, thinking about preordering a M8 tracker for some portable fun.

Does anyone have any experience with the cheap Presonus active speakers? I'm thinking of getting a pair of Eris E3.5 (possibly with BT) for the kids' room, but I guess I'm a bit skeptical about the price bracket in general -- not that I particularly want to spend more.
-
• #3209
If you're not used to 3.5" speakers, they might sound a bit thin, but Presonus stuff is fine.
Also be aware BT can have noticeable compression when it comes to audio quality.

Fair point on the woofer size, trying to think a bit about future use as well. I have my old 8030As doing nothing at the moment, but maybe that'd be spoiling the brats :^)

I wouldn't use a 3.5" BT monitor for any sort of production work personally, but I could get behind them for casual listening for sure.
Got my hands on a Novation Mininova this week after selling mine about 3yr ago. Holy hell, I will never understand the hate this thing gets - it's mind-blowingly powerful for the meager pricetag and if you've been pining after a Virus, but don't have $2,000USD to spend, I highly recommend this as an affordable alternative if you don't need more than 18 voices or multitimbral functionality.

RIP Dave Smith. :(
Sad as he was clearly still going at full speed.

Normally I'm not a fan of these sorts of things (they tend to be Korg Minilogues put in a new box with different knobs/faders), but this is pretty cool: MegaFM synth (would love a proper FM synth with full hands-on controls) + BlueSky reverb pedal

Time to dust off the Reface and make some weird as shit FM sounds I think.

Track on this complication out just now, previously sought feedback on early mixdown from this very forum! Cheers.

Really like it, some deep dark vibes, love the distant melody. Certainly my favourite of the three tracks you can stream.

Thanks for listening!

I'd like to get a flight case to house my small setup consisting of Blackbox, Bluebox, OTO Boum, 0 Coast, plus one small MIDI controller (possibly another controller/sequencer also)
Has anyone done this and any recommendations?
-
• #3220
My entire setup lived out of a flight case until very recently, it was great. Big pedalboard cases is where I'd start looking.

Cheers
Maybe something like this with adding pluck and pull foam might work
-
• #3222
I'd suggest something with a removable lid, but that's just me.
-
• #3223
Cheers. I think the one I linked also has a removable lid

Ozone Elements for £5 at Plugin Boutique (coupon code PB5): https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/5723-Ozone-Elements
No idea whether its worth it or not (iZotope generally seem well regarded), but seen it used quite a bit and for a mastering plugin that's normally £120 or so, figured it was worth a pop at that price.

Ozone is excellent but Elements is the gateway drug to the full fat version.
Sprung for the OTO Boum! Second jam using it, finding it a bit tricky to gain stage but getting some nice crunch
