Electro and Techno were clearly defined and separate in the late 80's

please elaborate

It was easy at that stage to hear the difference but these days the genre lines seem to be more blurred. I think it comes down to the huge amount of electronic music out there. It's difficult to keep a grasp of sub-genres. Lots of other reasons too.
