  • prompted a conversation about timelines and how SW4ANH couldn't happen if 10yo Leia dies

Then you explained that if she dies then they can CGI her back in later?

  • That's a conversation for another day...

  • Third episode in and the cracks are appearing in Obi Wan.

Can't deal with the camera shake. It's like a Pre Vis.

I expect it will come back together in the end...

  • lots of interwebby complaints about end of ep3 being a bit lacklustre (i.e. why didnt vader just force pull obi wan back from escaping and chop his legs and arms off)

i'm confused from ep1 we had ob1 "the boy needs to be trained", to ep2 and 3 with ob1 hardly able to wield a lightsaber - so who was going to train him? and if ob1 using the force to train him would have brought the inquisitor/vader to Luke......hmmmmm - i'm hoping the final 3 eps will bring it all together

surprisingly luke is hardly featuring in this series at all!

personally , having a plotline of ob1 helping straggling jedi/force sensitive users while keeping the inquisitors away from luke would have been enough for me, not really sure why we needed "will never die leia" in the mix.....

  • plotline of ob1 helping straggling jedi/force sensitive users while keeping the inquisitors away from luke would have been enough for me

I reckon this'd make a good animated series for kids TV. Ewoks stylee, which I'd have to revisit to work out if those have stood the test of time.

  • in Ep IV Leia knows all about Obi wan, it makes sense for her to have some kind of relationship with him in this timeline.
Plus it prevents it being a sausagefest - its great to see some time given to the few female characters from that period.

  • ...also was there a throw away line of Ben having a brother? oh dear, expect a 6 movie spin off and backdated tv series for that one.... ;-)

    Obi 2 Kenobi....

  • There is a lot to like about Obiwan and Ewan is doing a nice job. But it's the fundamental drawback of prequels is that it can only take you to a single, already known point. There is also zero at stake for the main characters since they cannot die. It's why Mandalorian is the best Star Wars thing to happen since Empire SB, untethered from a plot firmly entrenched in our collective brains.

edit: the animated clone wars did a great job of the above. Should have thrown a bunch of money at that, would have been great live action tv

Ep 3 had more plot holes than Lando's mask when he's above the Sarlac pit - this is inexcuseable since all the writers have to do is draw a sensible line between two firmly established points in time and make it fun in between. I will watch the rest but they really need to get their shit together with the plot, they have a great sandbox to play in but it ain't that big and everyone knows where the border starts and ends.

  • Two reasons Vader let him go:
    1) he sees OWK has help so he wants to see who is helping him. But the main reason is:
    2) he wants a PROPER rematch. His ego dictates he wants to beat his old master, OWK is a shell of his former self. DV wants to prove he's the best. If he took him now it wouldn't prove anything, be a hollow victory.

Loving it so far, Ewan is great.

  • 3) There was a big wall of fire in the way and, as the end of RotJ proves, even Vader’s not fire-proof.

  • However…

  • The key reason surely: Vader wants Obi Wan to suffer as he did, entirely on Vader's terms. No quick slice and dice. Plus, now Obi-Wan is trapped on this planet, Vader will find him and do whatever he wishes.

  • Anybody notice the nod to a classic 50’s film in the chemistry lab scene when OWK was searching for Leia?

  • Yeah, I'd agree with that.

Did anyone else hear a willhelm scream from the stormtrooper falling off the gatehouse roof?

  • I clocked that too!

  • And then they left the truck. Like what? Also the whole 'it's for kids' trope doesn't make sense given the amount of violence in it. A guy gets cut in half!

  • this - you have star wars animated series for kids, this should be for late teens/adults - even teens dont want to see an 8 year old run around a forest escaping the bad guys with them giving ott grimaces when they are blocked by a low hanging branch.

    isnt it rated 12 anyway?

  • Didn't know there was a term for that scream! Hear it all the time :)

  • willhelm scream

Just lost an hour of life on youtube with that and A113. Thanks

  • with that and A113

    Chigwell High Road? ;)

  • I love it. It'd have it as a ringtone if I had a ringtone.

  • even teens dont want to see an 8 year old run around a forest escaping the bad guys with them giving ott grimaces when they are blocked by a low hanging branch.

christ, that whole scene was just.... not good. The baddies looked like I do when I'm faux-chasing my 4yo and I'm trying to not quite catch her.

  • It was like something out of the Goonies

  • That’s Wrecker inside the robot suit. My opinion.
Ben is starting to get his mojo back.

  • The inquisitors fortress was impressive, OWK definitely getting his mojo back, I am enjoying this series and the hunt for Jedi across the galaxy more than the Leila plot line.
