  • If it’s still painful I’d avoid rolling the antagonised bit. But might be worthwhile rolling the bits around it for release as long as it doesn’t cause agitation to the angry parts.

  • Thanks. I've stayed away from the bike for five days now, but might have a gentle roll today - no pain whilst walking. I've been reading through the thread and it definitely seems the cold exacerbated it (I was touring in NL, Belgium and Luxembourg, brrrr). I only had shorts with me, and some chilly starts.

  • I started my tour April 22nd and by end of April 25th I was in pain at the front of the knee. I kept riding for 3 more days in agony because I didn't want to stop. Had to sit on my arse in Germany for 2 weeks but got going again and feel good now, almost 2 months in and having made some small fit changes.

I was doing exercises post "injury" that you can find on most Youtube videos on the subject but Im sure rest is what solved it really. Which was tedious to say the least.

I also took collagen + glucosamine capsules among other things. Hard to tell if it helped but certainly didn't hurt.

I remember going for a spin afterwards and it still hurt and I was gutted but realised I'd only been off the bike for 5 days or so. Its not enough, I think its 2 weeks minimum in most cases which is naturally shite for a tour with a time limit.
