Try some out even if you don't plan on buying new. I was pretty disappointed with the shimano systems we tried, Bosch felt much more refined. Easy to chip too, if you're going on holiday to the US: https://www.ebiketuning.com/speedchip-v3-for-bosch.html

ebike curious, fancy something that will just add x wattz on top of whatever I'm doing, say 100w but ideally without cutting out at 15mph. Think it'd bring a smile back to the 16mile each way commute on windy, wet or winter days.
Seems Shimano steps e8000 are popular for 'off-road' or use 'in the USA', wink wink.
Omnium E-Mini-Max WiFi looks hella fun and since I don't own a car, could double as a 'lazy' day commuter and local utility but ££££.
Anyway, random stream of thought, don't think the ideal solution exists for people who are already reasonably fit. Understandably not the target audience.
