Oh and thanks btw, I had a blast. Though more from the food and belgium beers than actual riding. Weather was terrible...

Haha that's rough. Glad it was fun anyway

Thanks, but these days you have to bring double discs to be hiphop surely 😎

Spent half the day giving my commuter the necessary tlc and some mudguards to keep my pants clean. This pic made me realise that altus rd needs some tweaking. And it has to be replaced, obv. Tyres are schwalbe marathon racers, of which I only saw the bad reviews after purchase. At least they make me more visible, so let's see how they hold up.

Looking good!
I have good experience with the cheap wirebead marathon racers -
• #34
Thanks for the confidence, that's a relief 🫶

Too bad for you but half rear mudguard won't get you dry legs. Dry ass but wet calves. I experienced it yesterday morning.
My sks bluemels lost some bolt and had to get some zefal seatpost mudguard :(Marathon are punctureless, dont worry where you ride.
Reviews say they are slippy under rain, I never had fear to ride them. Maybe if you race and you bend in corners.. -
• #36
That's a pitty, but wet calves I can live with, or wear my rain pants that my mate found floating in the canal. I've been stubbornly commuting mudguardless for 10 years now, the worst are the wet shoes and the shit stripe on my ass and back(pack). Actually semi looking forward to the coming 'moesson' to see what's improved.
Thanks for the warning on the slipperyness of the marathons, I'll make sure not to push them on the corners. Bloody done with crashing.

Bloody done with leaning
Let's hope so

Cleaning and regreasing old fashioned ball bearings is so mindful. I bet wheel lacing is even better.

• #39
Until one of the balls falls out and dissapears for ever
-
• #40
Having been through that before, makes it even more mindful :)) The amount of focus is almost unprecedented

Very appealing bike, since moving to Holland I have a soft spot for Gazelles and this one works so well, great proportions and all. Good job.
-
• #42
Thanks! There are so many great gazelles on the local classifieds to pick up for cheap, it makes me itch alot. I have been clean from the n+1 for a few years now, but the trapezi or cyclocross gazelles in all the right sizes are making it difficult sometimes.
I see you are into retro mtb's. Those are a bit rare in this flat earth of a country, helas. Really digging your Puch btw 🙌. -

I once had a chance of buying a CrMo Gazelle 28" hybrid, approx 1992 model, full XT and all, for dirt cheap, and I didn't do go for it. Still cursing myself on that one. But one day I'll get one.
And thanks a lot! -

New hoods and tape, as I dug out the mxl for the first time after last years trip for the annual Ardennes weekend with my mates. Rusty as I am, I fucked up the tape job, but the hoods went on nice and smooth with a bit of soapy water.

Lovely day in the saddle. After almost a year of neglect, this thing rides smooth and sharp as ever.

Ouf, perfect proportions. Loving the Ti bar/seatpost combo.
Not sure what to think about these yet. But I hope they make a nice helicopter sound while riding. The 3 stands for the 300 grams I gained from the DA c35s. For anyone interested:
with the DA wheels - 8.68kg
with the 3spokes - 8.95 kg
They're not the same cassette though, 105 vs edco. Will reweigh with the same cassette eventually.
