  • Same, after 2 years of being super careful I've finally caught it.

Working from home, wearing mask etc still, so it is frustrating, plus I feel pretty ropey, but know it could be a lot worse so I'm grateful.

    Hope you heal up soon.

  • That sucks. I also thought I was taking all the right precautions.

    Get well soon!

  • Thanks :)

It's actually baffling to try to figure out how I got it. Not that it really matters.

  • I was in town for two client dinners on Thursday and Friday. Definitely one of those.

As you say though, doesn’t really matter once you’ve got it.

  • So day 6 - worst of the cough / chest + congestion has gone, finally got a proper nights sleep last night

Fatigue is insane - decided to do some simple tidying up in my flat today and subsequently fell asleep in the afternoon

  • I am just over two weeks since first symptoms and apart from the cough I feel ok. Haven't tried a bike ride yet though. Sounds like you may have had it tougher than me, hopefully you will see a quick improvement now.

  • Not looking so good in North Korea

  • @Soul and @Cupcakes how are you doing?

  • In more trivial chat, has anyone found post-covid they're reacting to alcohol strangely?

I had it 6 weeks ago and I'm pretty much better with mild tiredness which continues to improve slowly. A few days ago after work I had 2 pints (mild-strength so like 1 regular beer) and around 9pm suddenly felt incredibly sleepy. I blamed early mornings. Yesterday I had 1.5 beers early afternoon and crashed out soon after and had to nap. Now I figure it's the alcohol.

  • I feel fine. Thanks for asking…

Really only had one day where I was totally out of it; Monday. Rest of the time I’ve had a mild cough and felt tired.

Seem to be over at least the cough today too.

Dealing with a locked in toddler too so no idea if the tiredness is at all related to Covid 😅

  • Just did a test for my 5th day.

Not as angry as Monday but still very clear. Wasn’t expecting anything else.

  • I think that's just getting old.

  • Sure there's that in the general lack of appetite for late nights, but just seems like a sudden switch. Pre and post covid.

  • I'm joking a bit, hopefully it's just residual illness and will pass with a bit more time.

  • Starting to feel better now. Been sleeping as much as possible and resting while awake. But have still felt pretty rough. It's been the sore throat that really got me, as well as the fatigue.

I'm lucky that I can choose to take a week off. If I didn't have that luxury I suspect I'd think I felt better, then end up being moderately sick for a long time. I've found this with other viral infections in the past.

By some miracle my partner hasn't caught it yet, despite us not being able to fully isolate in the flat and us being together at all times that I could feasibly have caught the original infection.

Thanks for checking in, I appreciate it.

  • I found gargling salt water to be the most effective at soothing the throat, as disgusting as it is

  • Statistics Canada kit came in the mail today.
They are surveying the population for antibodies.
We have people at my work who insist it doesn’t exist despite coworkers dying.

  • So temperatures back to normal, cough still there but light + normal mucus etc.

headache / head cold is the one thing now stopping me from doing anything useful- paracetamol/ ibuprofen not touching it, anyone got any ideas? Sudafed?

  • I read that over the counter medication is pretty useless for the headache.

I tried paracetamol, ibuprofen, sudafed spray and tablets but it didn't touch it. I don't know if it was coincidence but on waking up at 1am on the third day with a severe headache I took a naproxen which had been prescribed to me for a bad back last year. The next day the headache had gone (and didn't come back).

  • First ever positive tests here now too. Mad.

I think Palma airport on Sunday was the culprit, we stayed masked up the whole time but so many people with nasty coughs and no masks.

  • Yep Sudafed did the sum total of fuck all which seems odd as I’ve found it pretty good for other head colds

  • It’s everywhere at the moment.

Hope you’re not feeling too rough.

  • there goes the KOM attempt for sa calobra

  • Genuinely bemused our tests were positive; definitely had lurgys over the last two years that had me feeling worse, no headache and just tickly throat and snuffles.
