This part is true.

My brother in law is a surgeon and recently saw a patient to remove their gallbladder. At the initial consultation the patient revealed that they were concerned that the operation would be difficult as they had a stomach sleeve for which they had traveled to Turkey to have the op done privately.

When my brother in law carried out his procedure it became obvious very quickly that this person had paid a lot of money to travel to Turkey and have a small incision made in their abdomen and nothing else. However the placebo effect meant that they still lost a fuck ton of weight, maybe this is a slightly less extreme version of that.

Same outcome, less chance of side effects. Sounds perfect.
