When you say horizontal sashlock are you referring to the ones where the keyhole and hand sit next to each other? As far as I know this is the only way you get the clearance on the handle you're after.
I would point out though that by moving the lock in the way you are suggesting you will be taking out a lot of the remaining tenon that holds the door together. The result of this will be a substantial weakening of the door.
I’m going to refurb our front door and would like to replace the handle with a knob on a rose+key hole thing but that would be too close to the frame to comfortably open/close. It’s a five lever sashlock with the centre of the handle 50mm from the lip of door.
What are my options?
Is there a type of sashlock thats 30mm or so further back that I could chisel out. Or would I have to change to a horizontal sashlock and fill above and below the void left from removing the old taller one.
