Potential constant earth fault? There can't be a fault if there is no earth....

Possibly to make sufficient space for a second lamp to be wired into the same plug.
FiL did this sort of thing - he didn't see the need for earth connections on 'properly maintained appliances' while living in a house that had Bakelite round pin sockets of various sizes, apart from in the new kitchen extension (new in 1976)

Sometimes I just want to jump on a bike (school run fr’instance) and not change in to Lycra or shorts. On the cargo bike with big wide Crank Bros pedals no problem, but on the others it is greasy trouser cuffs or roll them up like a Freemason.

@Dammit - Have you wired the earth and do you have an RCD in your consumer unit? It would be interesting to know if it has started tripping your consumer unit (assuming earth is wired and connected to the correct point in the lamp and that you have an RCD)

Brooks leather cycle clips. They'll happily live wrapped around a handlebar when not in use.

Top call! I’m running Brooks on all three bikes so I get coordination points.

I have wired the earth, I do have RCD protection and it’s not triggering.

I have removed and replaced all wiring, and lamp holder. Kept the old switch mind.
