Rose clear might help I’ve used that on our roses for years. I did some Googling and apparently it’s OK for bees. Although I Try not to use it too often.

Thanks for that. Looks like that’s the culprit.

Rose Clear looks like it might work but I think I’ll try the baking soda spray in the earlier article to avoid using chemicals.
Failing that I may just have to prune back the affected stems by the looks of it.I’m astounded how hardy they’ve been, I thought that it may have killed them when we cut them back last year!

No mow may is over for me. I’ve given the lawn it’s annual mow and got the robot out of hibernation for summer and autumn to keep it in trim. Only lawn job left is the edging and lowering the mow height over the next few weeks.
Might buy a bag of worms to help with the clippings. -

Just had a new wooden fence put in around our garden. Going to paint it to help it last, but want to avoid the dark greys/browns/reds that seem to be the norm. Like the natural colour of the wood and would like to keep close to it. Anyone know of a clear paint/stain that might fit the bill?

Any advice for stopping the neighbours cat from shitting in our flower beds? I planted lavender as a deterrent and the little fkr just did a massive dump right beside it.

Avoid paint as it's just a surface treatment which will peel off in the most unsightly manner it can. Spray with decking oil (many shades available), which will also penetrate and help to protect the timber.

I noticed the roses have few aphids in the new place.
Turns out the neighborhood wrens are quite happy to eat them, we saw one climbing the roses and picking them off.

Beautiful.
Does anyone know anything about roses?
These were in the garden when we moved in, they looked in pretty poor condition not having been fed/pruned for a long time.
Last year we cut them back to about 40cm high and they’ve shot back up since then.
Problem is they’ve got these spots all over the leaves, no idea what they are or if they’ll be a problem.
Any suggestions?
