  • It is on the A6, the old Station building. I can't remember the antiques place.

    More details here: https://stationsouth.co.uk/

  • Is the Bagman (QR Expedition in my case) supposed to be kinda shite? Mine goes waaay off center when I tighten the two screws that hold the steel loop.

Am I missing some insider knowledge on how you're supposed to set them up?

  • I find them great, but only if you add the support struts too.

If you loosen off the central bolt can you realign it and retighten? Tbh I've never had to tinker with the two screws that hold the loop, other than to check they're tight.

  • Mine were kinda loose to begin with, I think. The loop rotates around the top tube actually (one side ends up higher than the other, basically), so unfortunately it's not something that can be compensated using the central bolt.

  • you've lost me there...

  • To use some aircraft terminology (that might make it even more confusing?) :

    • tightening the two screws holding the loop causes it rotate around the "roll" axis, which makes the loop very dissymmetric : it goes towards the left of the bike, but also kind of deforms : the left side of the loop ends up higher than the right side.
    • the loop can be rotated around the "yaw" axis using the central bolt, but this doesn't fix my problem :)

I'll try to take a picture whenever I take the chance.

  • Can anyone share some pictures of a junior mounted on the front of their bike?

  • Well I bought a Junior with the intention of running it like this.
Mounted on the front to match my Nelson on the back.

With my set-up it doesn't work very well though.
My narrow drops and high-ish stem definitely aren't ideal.

    Not sure it's a set-up I'd recommend personally.

You just looking for inspiration or did you have any questions about it?

  • Only a matter of time before production goes abroad unfortunately, partly or completely.

  • not necessarily - article says the new owners are aquapac, whose own site says "80% of our products are handmade in the UK".
I'd be surprised if they move production of the traditional bags (i.e. duck cotton, leather straps), but surely they'll overhaul the fully-waterproof range with help from Aquapac staff & try to take some marketshare from Ortlieb? (nb. this is all just wild speculation....)

  • It seems an odd move in a crowded market place, if they’re expecting to grow and diversify Carradice, I just can’t see it being successful. They have their niche, which they have occupied for a million years. Is there any demand for anything else from them?

(My super C is the single best piece of bike luggage I’ve ever had)

  • They have their niche

This. I think they're newer bikepacking range has missed the mark. The new bar bag, lighter rear bag are so floppy.

  • Looks like they are pushing the firehose straps in place of the leather for everything so their niche may now be vegan?

  • After almost nine years the stitching holding the side pockets onto the main part of my Barley have started to come away. Do I send it back, not use the pockets but carry on with the rest of the bag or just buy a new one as it’s had a good innings? The pocket most affected is used to carry an emergency flask. But the one on the other side carrying the toolkit is also starting to come away.

  • Take it to your high street dry cleaners/seamstress?

  • take it to get repaired or buy a "Speedy stitcher" sewing awl and fix it yourself. Great tool to own.

  • New carradice owners should get them to make a super c audax lightweight with a bit of plastic inside to make it stiffer and a strap of fabric on the top to act as a handle, then charge 120-150 bucks for it.

  • Def repair it if it’s only the stitches, who you use is up to you depending on your own motivation and skill. Actually I think Carradice may still have patching material to send out, so you could potentially even rebuild the pocket.

  • Sounds like I need to visit me dear old mum.

  • I got an awl to repair mine on @Belagerent 's recommendation and it was a breeze to use, came with strong waxed thread and the repair feels pretty strong

  • I'm such a sucker, just ordered one of these for my super C saddle bag... Can't wait to get sewing!
