Purchased some like new 9 speed Dura Ace bar ends for $70 shipped, so I will definitely be going 9 speed on this now.

Using a 9speed road shifter with a 9 speed mtb mech?? wont the pull ratios be effected?

I know you can use 10 speed bar end shifter and 9 speed mtb mechs which achieves the same pull and can get you 10 speed...

with 9 speed the shifter "dictates" the gears, at least with shimano. as far as i know alle the shadow (not shadow plus) work.

retroshift/gevenalle work that way (shimano bar end shifters)
