There's another spinoff? Fuck me, used to waiting years for the next film and now they can pump out a series every 6 months

One of the very first scenes of the new Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi shows characters slaving away in the desert, earning a pittance by scraping scraps of meat from a giant, long-dead carcass. This is either a complete coincidence, or someone at Disney+ is a little more self-aware than they should be.

"Post-Lucas Star Wars exists almost exclusively to bulk out thin gruel, joining various dots that didn’t need to be joined, for the delight of a quickly ageing fanbase."

I, for one, welcome our new Mus Musculus overlords.

Both eps def worth a punt. Would Jedi again next week.

Just watched both of OWK, it’s good, still pretty vanilla but nice to have Euan McGregor back in the action.

Ewan is fun, lil' Leia is sweet but there doesn't seem to be much to this show. Only 6 episodes to pack in some actual content.

It's good. Brain out enjoyment, some nostalgia.
9yo was dressed as Leia and really enjoyed her appearance.

Concur with all above, OWK very good. Have mentioned New Rockstar's before as a watching aid, really adds to it. When Leia looks up at the space craft, pleasure barge, boring. (She ends up on one in the films with Jabba). Then tri wing, "that's a new one" and it is to the whole canon.
Disney playing with the geeks. -

Watched Obi Wan’ yeah OK. The Leia running away scenes were pretty poor…terrible edits..or find a kid that can actually run or act running.
It’s weird I’m happy to believe in space dudes with laser swords but my suspension of disbelief is shattered by a kid’s athleticism -

Wee Leia was a niggle for me as well. No way that kid is 10, more like 7 or 8. I can only guess that they have a lot more filming planned for her and need her to pass as a pre-teen for a few years.
I thought she was good in the role, definitely had the requisite amount of sassiness to be Leia.

Yeah she looked too young, she handled the dialogue well though.

Who knows how long a galactic year is though

10yrs on Alderaan is about Earth 7.5yrs it seems?

Not helped by the comedy 'path blocked' faces. There was some awful editing too. After the fall I was expecting it to be a shape shifting Kenobi, because it was so abrupt from the rooftop fighting scene.

are they suggesting now, that by using the Force, other force sensitive users can detect you?
i.e. Luke cut himself off from the force in the sequels.
Ben also here, undetected, until he used the force and then "you know who" spots him -

Isn't that how Vader knows Kenobi is aboard the Death Star in the first ever Star War?
edit: re-read and now realise I misunderstood your using of "by using the force". I don't think just using the force set off a beacon in the old inquisitor-radar, just draws attention.

Enjoyed that.
Really feeling the Vader menace. -
• #496
How often are the new episodes being released?
-
• #497
every wednesday
-
• #498
Well, that was something alright. James Earl Jones sounds much better this time than he did in Rogue One. Proper Vader.

I am desperate to like the new Obi Wan but thr plot holes at the end last night kneecapped all the good that came before it

Daughter couldn't believe Ep.3 ended on such a cliffhanger. "What if Leia dies in the next episode" she asked... prompted a conversation about timelines and how SW4ANH couldn't happen if 10yo Leia dies.
First two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi done. Evoked genuine nostalgia for the prequel films, which isn’t something I ever thought I’d say.
