Bought one recently - sod's law that we've had no real rain since.
Sizes up just about true - fairly snug fitting and generally cut nicely. The zip pull might be a bit small with cold and wet hands, but maybe that's a quibble. Packs down into a regular jersey pocket well.
My one concern is breathability. Despite some strong claims, it's proved to be a little clammy when using as an impromptu jacket for early mornings when I know its going to get warmer.
So yeah, not tried in the rain, but no qualms so far!

Thanks, that's really helpful!

I've been happy with my Galibier Tempest, although perhaps more lightweight / sports oriented than you'd need.

A fair number of people in Australia use Monton. Not an actual review - but I've always seen it as being lower cost and lower quality.

Lower cost and quality compared to what? Its priced similarly to Assos, Rapha, le col & Attaquer which i would consider premium weekend kit and its more expensive than Castelli and Morvelo which i view as still high quality but more affordable for every day.

I am looking for a padded liner or padded boxer shorts. Something I can wear under my casual gravel bro specific shorts.
I see Rapha makes one and my butt seems to agree with the chamois in their bibs. But £90 is a bit steep. Any other honourable mentions? -

Does it have to be a liner? You can just use padded waist shorts. The dhb ones are ok, gore make some good ones, or Rapha Core Waist shorts are pretty comfy.

They all seem quite expensive, don't they? There are various cheaper options on SportPursuit around £30 (Rivelo iirc). No idea on quality though.
I end up just wearing my shorts over my bibs usually.

Yeah, I've been doing that but it tends to be quite sweaty and too warm.

Some of the Fox MTB shorts come with a removable padded liner that I’ve found works pretty well with a range of shorts

The liners I'm using are not any thinner than summer bibs, Gore wear C3 and Assos trail bibs. Patagonia dirt roamer look more breathable/see through than these but not much cheaper than the rapha liner.
The C3 are good for a few hours commuting, rub me a little around the waist. The trail bib better for gravel days out. Would prefer both had some thinner pannels.

SportsPursuit have a bunch of merino padded boxers from Vulpine in the £25-30 range.
