Fucked up and just booked a hotel I don't want via booking.com.
There is a £50 cancellation fee (the price of the room). I took out insurance, but now I'm reading it, it only covers me for:
• Events 1 – Injury, illness and involuntary unemployment
A. Accidental death, injury, illness or quarantine on the
orders of a treating medical practitioner of a guest.
B. Accidental death, injury or illness of a guest’s close
relative or close business partner.
C. Involuntary unemployment, or having a contract ended
early if self-employed, of a guest.
• Events 2 – Natural disaster
• Events 3 – Limited pre-departure Covid-19Paid by debit card.
I've msg the hotel and explained why I want to cancel and asked if they can wave the fee, but am not hopeful.
Is there anything I can do? Any sort of distance selling cooling off regs?
Cheers
Note to self: don't book things hungover

There's no gap with the lockring installed and tightened.

Injure a close relative or business partner

Check if they need PCR confirmation of COVID, if it's lateral flow only you could "catch COVID" 2 days before.

no gap
No gap just means it's touching, not necessarily pressing. Measure the thickness (A) of the rotor centre and the depth (B) from the face of the hub shell to the face of the shoulder. You'll want about 0.5mm difference to allow the lockring to press on the rotor properly before bottoming out

Fuck. I'm really kicking myself. I've also found an airbnb in waking distance from the venue instead of a 30min taxi from the hotel.

Just what is the point of centrelock, besides being yet another standard for its own sake?
Installing and removing disc rotors is much less time consuming than six bolt, but how often do you change rotors.
Mainly their purpose is to look 1,000% better than six bolt.

I'm about to buy this for £100. Cervelo Soloist Team.
Thinking it will make a fun/daft winter bike. Might even TT on it...
Its a 56cm, I ride a 58cm road bike. 130mm stem or even 140 and it will be totally fine. Maybe.Am I stupid? Or just buy?

Buy.

It's a great frame regardless of the price, at £100 it's a no-brainer.

Thanks, that’s all the encouragement I needed!
It’s now mine.
If the seat post doesn’t slip it’s a winner :)

If you put anything smaller than a 53t chainring on it, you're wasting everyone's time

If the fork doesn’t snap it’s a winner
The CL was never recalled (unlike the SL), but there are a couple of anecdotal reports that they aren't completely reliable. At the least, give it a thorough inspection before riding.

How on earth do I view previous years' tax returns?

If it's like I did the other night you sign in to government gateway, click in circles for half an hour then find something unrelated due to a mispayment that happened to also have the information I needed, tell that to someone then get investigated for fraud because it doesn't match their records, why I needed to tell them when they've got fucking records I don't know.

Trying to navigate the ever changing tax website makes me want to pull my fucking hair out. Whoever designs these services is clearly a sadist.
I SWEAR TO CHRIST IVE JUST DONE EXACTLY WHAT I TRIED ABOUT 5 TIMES AND NOW IT WORKS. FUCK THIS TO DEATH.

That would imply some level of competence.

Aye the chap was quite honest about it all. He was the original owner. He mentioned that the SL had been recalled and he was given the CL as a replacement.
He also pointed out that the seat posts were prone to slipping but Cervelo sent out a brass shim to sort it. He claims it’s been fine, I guess I’ll find out.
I’ve gave the fork a good look over and there doesn’t appear to be anything blatantly wrong with it.
What issues were reported with the CL fork? It’s obviously not perfect but for £100 I couldn’t resist. Very much an impulse buy with no real research. But that’s always the most exciting way. Buy now, think later…

What issues were reported with the CL fork?
Oddly, snappage under the stem clamp in both cases. It's an ancient hybrid-construction fork, they often start to come apart at the dissimilar material bonds, so I'd have a good look there too.

3M, no point taking a chance on anything else. 8671 is the base model, 8671HS is stickier, 8681HS is stronger. Any of them is ample for bike use.
