Congratulations! Very cool. How’d you bend up with the pocket watch? What else have you got on the Albert?

Getting on the cheap quartz seiko train this time: solar edition. Probably going to put it on some kind of fabric strap but luckily this used metal one has been set to just the right length.

New strap on the Helson.
Was earmarked for a different watch but I keep forgetting to get a new battery for it.

Whilst I think of it, watch batteries, how important is it that I get a Silver Oxide battery over an alkaline?
Read somewhere i need a 394 (SR-something) battery, also read LR45 are "the same" but with different chemistry.(I only ask because I think I have some LR45 in the cupboard, before I go buying a 394 battery)

Leave the bracelet on, fabric straps are shit

It's mainly to make it look less flashy so I can take it on holiday to places known for pickpockets without worrying about it.

Th alkaline will work, but probably not keep good time for anything like as long as the silver oxide - IIRC it's down to the battery's discharge curve.
Silver oxide holds the voltage higher for more of the capacity of the battery, which means the silver oxides are better for things (like watches or photographic lightmeters) that rely on a consistent voltage.

New watch waiting to clear customs.
Should be able to pick it up next week.
It’s for my 40th but that’s not till end of July.
Should I wait till then to wear it? -

Yes

• #64718
Yep.

No! Ruin it. Then buy another!

Think I will wait. Will I wait till then to post it on here is the next question?
-
• #64721
I say don't wait for either. You know it's for your bday, you'll always have the mental link to it for that reason, so why delay the fun. Also, it gives you 2 months to find another bday present if you don't get on with it in the flesh...

A G Shock costs $40 and would've survived a nuclear apocalypse... and it wouldn't like the watch most thieves target lol

My G-Shock gets condensation after rain in the cold. Even after I sent it back. Piece of crap.
My £15 basic Casio survived a 30+ m dive after I forgot to take it off however.
Looks like you’re having a terrible time, my sympathies.
