  • Hard luck, Aggi. Wouldn’t have seen this coming a month ago and didn’t expect it this morning, tbh. Enjoy the lack of VAR and hopefully winning a few more games.

  • What the fuck are city fans abusing the villa keeper for. You won you cunts. 21 point deduction next season along with Chelsea please.

    cunts

    answered your own question

  • I always say Newcastle have a way of destroying other teams hopes when it doesn’t really matter for them. Same with Arsenal earlier in the week.

  • Fair play to City and Leeds today. Epic day of football.

  • Epic day of football.

We deserved penalties… only then Liverpool would have won.

  • heehee. we did. and to be fair Raphinha put his away nicely.

  • Cheers. We had the new manager bounce but injuries and a long season mounted up and we just ran out of steam.

Will see how next season pans out, think it might be a tough one

  • "Silva's not working. Bring on Gundogan."

  • Commiserations. First season down after a while can be hard. Lots of games though!

  • Loads of North West derbies which I think will make it tough, a load of teams who want to prove a point.

I did at least manage to drown my sorrows with £2.50 pints and a £4 taxi home.

  • I don't know anything about it, but saw some chat earlier elsewhere that Burnley's financial situation is perilous and relegation is going to financially catastrophic. What do you know @aggi ?

Have to say, I'm sorry to see Burnley go down as I think they've been a credit to the PL over the years. Always good to see a club come up, stay up and then establish themselves, especially one with Burnley's heritage.

  • It's definitely not great.

Our new owners had the club borrow £65m and "lend" it (plus about another £30m of the club's cash) to them so that they could afford to buy the club.

A significant chunk of that £65m is repayable on relegation. So, most of the money from the sales of our best players will be going on paying that back rather than getting the club sorted for the championship.

  • how much will you get in parachute payments? ~£100m?

  • It's about £90m over 3 years unless you get promoted again where the remaining seasons get redistributed among the EFL.

  • Something like that. We had an £85m wage bill last year though so, even if it gets cut considerably, we're still going to need a fair chunk of the parachute payments for that.

  • on the topic of wages, brighton and brentford have done well for themselves

  • Not really sorry to see Burnley go - no real dislike for them, but never seen an entertaining game they were involved in. Also, that White Lives Matter thing. Can see Pope and Cornet being of interest to quite a few clubs, not many of the others.

  • Tarkowski on a free should be interesting a few clubs too I reckon.

They’ve been sensibly run until this leveraged buyout. No crazy wages, transfers or anything. Until some yanks walk in and think they can make a quick buck that is.

They have/had the lowest wage/revenue ratio in the league for yonks.

If football can’t protect football than what chance do fans have.

  • It wasn't the finest season. I'm still not completely convinced by Gerrard, but it'll be interesting to see what the yentzing window is like.
Coutinho and Kamara are a decent start - we've desperately needed a proper DM. Need to be pushing for top 8 next season with the backing he'll get.

  • you could do with upgrading from Mings, he's just seconds away from his next silly mistake

  • What happened to Douglas Luiz? I thought he seemed like a good little player.

  • Possibly. But I'll forgive him the odd brainfart after that block against Burnley the other night. And with a bit more protection in front he's good enough.

  • Hasn't quite developed as was hoped. But again, lack of a solid DM has meant he's played there a fair bit which isn't his game. Tough competition with McGinn and now Ramsey in the same kind of space. Think he'll probably move on this summer - which seems an odd thing to say of a Brazilian international.
