• Whilst I think of it, watch batteries, how important is it that I get a Silver Oxide battery over an alkaline?
    Read somewhere i need a 394 (SR-something) battery, also read LR45 are "the same" but with different chemistry.

    (I only ask because I think I have some LR45 in the cupboard, before I go buying a 394 battery)

    Th alkaline will work, but probably not keep good time for anything like as long as the silver oxide - IIRC it's down to the battery's discharge curve.

    Silver oxide holds the voltage higher for more of the capacity of the battery, which means the silver oxides are better for things (like watches or photographic lightmeters) that rely on a consistent voltage.
