Saw a SWB Renault Master with high roof today. Around 2010 age I think, pretty ideal for what I'm after, as wide enough to have bed/berth across the back, and high up so has bike garage underneath. Enough height to stand everywhere, could even raise the floor a bit for longer storage underneath (surf board/ski etc). Drove pretty good and way less rust than equiv age VW or Merc van which was surprisingly.
Absolutely stank of smoke though, every single surface in the cab was turning into a nasty sticky substance from the decade of smoking thats been done in it. So a hard pass from me on that exact van, but the concept is ideal.
In my area parking is getting quite hard, council is trying to bring a resident scheme in which won't help a bit (as all the cars belong to residents unsurprisingly!) but what will be an issue is MWB or LWB vans will not fit in most of the bays, only a handful of larger bays will be made, and can guarantee that some nissan micra will park in those permanently.
Pic is of a L1H2, but I'm sure what I just saw was an L1H3. Renault don't seem to offer it anymore, but maybe just in 2009/10 they made a few or it was a custom order? Or maybe I can buy some new death wheels and make another one thats no so nasty.
Another aspect of resident parking in my area is allowed height. It could well be different for you but I'm pretty sure I would not be allowed to park a van that tall in the street I live in on a resident's permit.
Take my money!
