Throwback time, to maybe the first ever record of an hour on a bicycle. In 1817, Baron Karl von Drais did 14.4km on the machine which bears his name

What, no warm up or cool down?!
"I got the Hour Record"
"Oh yeah, how long did that take you?" -

Reminds me of when I told a friend that Boardman had broken the hour record, doing 56.375 kms. "What was his average speed?" asks my mate.

Custom bike and custom parts again. Do they still have to get UCI approval and then make them available for sale to the public or is that another one of those UCI rules no one cares about until some Scot on a washing machine breaks their record? :)

It's a Trek. They are one of the biggest bike companies in the world, and title sponsor of a Pro Tour team. You do the maths.

I don't do maths unless I'm being paid. Does this bike and her kit meet the UCIs equipment regulations? Have any of the record bikes met their own regulations?

According to the article, it's closer than any other recent attempt. The only questionable thing is cutting the dropouts and sticking on trackends, which seems like a bigger modification than filing the lawyer lips off a fork 🙂

Also, don't bitch about it here, if you have an issue file a formal protest with the UCI
Must be some new bike racing viewers around here.
