going car free
Ah that's cool. What's the plan for holidays / family visits etc? Rentals / taxis / public transport?

Can do you some wider stepped out wheels if you wanted to make it for drifting.

Advertised 8pm Friday, bought it first thing Saturday morning - seller said his phone had been blowing up, and had a couple no shows, so I had to rush out the house to make sure no one got in there before me. It’s the first RWD car that’s got an MOT I’ve seen for £500 in ages. Lots of MR2/MX5 spares or repairs but they’re no use anyway, need something a bit more robust.

Bit of a pipe dream, my garage is dedicated to housing broken motorbikes. Love a Kadett though, in today's market feels like a poor man's Escort mk1. The non estate is equally pretty.

A bile green Chevette with a 50 year old 1.2 litre engine. How appealing.

Ha, each to their own.

nice too. love watching old rallies with the kadetts and asconas flying.

Ascona 400 for me, or maybe a Shuvette HSR.
So much more discerning than the ubiquitous Escorts. Thinking man's RWD. Oh actually a Dolomite Sprint with an S2000 engine...

Never seen one of these before but spotted on the side of the road for sale if anyone interested... POA presumably

friend of mine had an Opel Manta A SR back in the day. Like this but green. He called it the Torquey Beast https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1455097 He sold it when he was given a company car, an Escort Mk3. The latter seem quite cheap....they haven't aged well. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1449155 I had one for a while. Not nice to drive.

Fiat X19 maybe looks something same shape front & back :)

The ascona never came to the UK. (EDIT: It did, I was wrong)
The most famous manta in rallying was the Andrews Heat for Hire liveried Brooks rally car.

Good call but minilites on a Fiat!!!!
You seen the E30 blasted and in primer touring shell and the e39 M3 V8? engine.

Ascona B did surely?
-
• #71073
No Ascona came to the UK, think that the ascona b and c came to the UK as vauxhall cavaliers mk1 and mk2. Not sure the models spec matched. Wasn't one a GM world car?
The only Opel sold in the UK was manta.
EDIT Wrong, GM had some odd ideas with vauxhall and Opel tillearly 80s

Escort Mk3. The latter seem quite cheap....they haven't aged well.
I dunno, a more interesting one still looks pretty cool to me. Although perhaps not a fair comparing it to the RS version
