Are the budget (£15ish) video capture cards ok for using a dslr as a webcam? Any recommendations?

I've got a cheapo one (which I tried with a Nikon D3200 coincidentally) and there was a hefty lag. Remember the quality was decent but not amazing. I went back to using a webcam rather than persist with it.

Thanks. Might just get a cheapo webcam again (mine died).

Any recommendations on cheap webcams anyone?
