the point is economy of means and minimalism. I can have a single 120mm etube going from stem to rear derailleur without a junction box in the downtube, but rather i can have it inside the stem. Or the 3 / 5 port junction-charger can act as a junction box with the help of a Y e-tube. Sure, the cable has to be exposed and but i don't mind that not really a problem if hydro hoses are exposed too. and if they are hidden it means the e-tubes can follow the same route.
at the moment i am using trp hylex with sprint buttons on the handlebars so even more minimal.
Axs is ugly, too expensive for the performance and can be discarded < / imo >

i know this is a view i do not share with my fellow mamils, but it is the tackiest design in the groupset world, IMO

Good lord!
Which series? Red, Force or Rival? All of them?!
I can’t agree(admit to myself) with you since I’ve owned all of them.
But some one did highlight the similarity between the red axs crank logo design and the old Rival logo design and I admit it was hard to unsee -

Really? Thought both and disc where wireless. What happened there?
-
• #5085
its wired-less. No cables from shifters to mechs but both mechs connect to batt (which has built in junction box b). I think they cant get around the AXS patent.
I have also begun to see less of a point in Shimano now since everyone is moving to 12 speed. Now I just need to justify my hate for DOT5.1 and that fucking chain.

i must admit not studying all the range in detail.
for sure Red is the most acceptable as it has subtleties and a more visible materail quality, but the general vibe is pretty masculine, agressive, in short : very BMW, and it was clearly aimed at a certain market. Good for them that it succeeds but in essence it is not a design that i enjoy. -
• #5087
shimano is on the 12 speed train though
-
• #5088
The shifters are also modelled on the Easter Island heads

Red cranks and cassette, Force brifters and and brakes FTW.

Lol’d at this. Now that you say it, you’re kinda right.
Obvs I’m just messing, I don’t have that strong a love for the aesthetics of any of them really.
What I need is full wireless di2 but with a design that’s identical to da7800.I think the current Red axs group looks good but I think it will look pretty dated a few years down the line.
A bit like how I loved da9000 when it was released and thought it was the nicest group set to date but in 2022 it looks a bit duff. -

Fuck!
Please stop showing me these things :(
It’s nice. You’re all wrong. 🙄 -

Aye, I’ve been down some very long google rabbit holes on this.
Some conflicting info on it. But the fact that 12s di2 isn’t fully wireless suggests that it is something patent related.I’m patiently waiting for da9300

best you can hope for
Best you can hope for with that set up is that your local hospital has an excellent facial reconstruction team. Chinese carbon ultra-low stack stem with the steerer nowhere near the top of it, and not even a sturdy top cap as back up.

Prime example.
You’re saying that’s not a genuine Easton stem? -
• #5095
I looked at that and threw up a little at the tape then the spacer stack then the stem and its location and then the sparkly bar tape and this is basically me now...
-
• #5096
Nope, the rim brake version has wired shifters too.
Hence the battery being 3 port. You only need 2 ports for disc brake -

horrific

Shimano cranks/ring/chain/cassette, AXS mech and shifter, Magura brakes, done.

yeah I went that way (with xtr brakes) but on road bike :((((((

Thanks for that link!
The Shimano instructions are almost useless and I gave up.
Not relevant to this discussion but rim brake 12s di2 isn't wireless at all
