Thanks.
Very mixed reviews on work quality. -

Agreed. Though he's done all of Talbot's paint jobs and they're cracking.
The mixed reviews also tend to be from the earlier pages in the thread. The more recent pages give a very different impression.

Think it'll just be Atex.
What do they charge for a standard F&F powdercoating. No decals or fancy stuff.

veLLo's last few have been Vaz jobs and they look glorious. It's where the tandem's headed (and my solo tourer) when I get my act together.
But wrong thread, so I'll >>> -

Unfortunate choice of words here, JB.
You mean, of course, that they're very good. :)

I had a frame resprayed by Armourtex a couple of months ago. I had requested to remove braze ons and rear hanger (originally a track frame, puppy killers >>>>>) came in to collect a few days later, thought I would check the frame quickly before taking it home and noticed that none of the braze ons had been removed. Pretty annoying, but Armourtex were happy to get it sorted and have me collect it the following day.
I would recommend them, they did a stellar job in the end but if a young guy is writing down your order make sure that you are very clear with what you want.
I'm finally getting some decals for my Rourke, and I recall Armourtex saying that they won't apply decals and a clear coat unless they are powder coating as well. Is there somewhere in London that can apply decals and a clear coat?

Ha, a very unfortunate choice of words, indeed. Yes, they're very good!

Just been giving my bike a service; I had it powdercoated at Armourtex a year ago and was pretty happy, but on close inspection it looks like there is rust bubbling happening underneath the lacquer on a few areas, notably on the head tube and on downtube above bottle bosses.
I'm worried that if I leave it the frame, a Roberts Audax Pro with S+S couplings, will be ruined, but equally, a powdercoat by definition should not be doing this and should last longer than a year?
I store it inside, in the dry, and clean it after every wet ride so it's not like it's abused or anything, and there's no way water is collecting in the frame as the cables are all external and there's a hole drilled in the BB shell...

pics. Anyone had similar? I thought the whole idea of powdercoat is that it's super durable and is bonded to the steel as part of the process?
waaaaahhhhhh....

I heard from someone that they're not doing bikes anymore. Just a rumour or any truth?
A friend needs a bike done. Was going to send to Mario but thinking a powdercoat (whilst not as aesthetically pleasing on old old frames) will be more durable. Anyone else do it?

As far as I heard, they still do powder coating but quality has fallen once new owners overtook business. It's a risk you have to take.

They also closed the Hackney Road shop so no more drop/collect there.
