The fact they are broken down Bimmerz or 850s?
-
• #70978
Lol. Because they’re 8’s there’s something so beautifully retrowave about that shape.

Anyone remember my Volvo V70 stuck in France for a year due to Covid , well I went back , new battery and wipers , got it insured booked an Mot in uk and drove it back via roscoff .So nearly 2 years sat still apart from the restart and move about last summer , I chocked the wheels and didn’t apply the hand brake .
It started first time , put some new petrol to mix with the old , air in tyres and it made it home no issues at all .
Now she’s got her MOT tomorrow… then what I don’t know -

Yay.
No issue with no tax or MOT?

Possibly not everyone’s cup of tea but here’s a few pics from the Nethercutt Museum. It’s the most insane collection of incredibly restored, pre-war luxury motors, stuck in a scrappy little neighborhood in the middle of nowhere. 100% worth a visit if you’re in LA!

Nice, very Al Capone, I love cars with running boards.....note to self don't do any mushrooms before visiting, that carpet is wild.

The insurance company said they couldn’t sort that , but from what I know you’re allowed to drive to a booked MOT .
So I did that.
If it passes I can then tax it -

Does anyone have a tyre inflator (foot or electric) in East London they could lend me tomorrow morning?
I have two flat tyres and need to get the car to a tyre fitter round the corner...
-
• #70985
I have a 12v tyre inflator. A track pump also works, I think (if you happen to have one).
I'm in walthamstow.

Lovely, thank you!
I'll try with my track pump, but it didn't have the gumption last time... If it fails, I'll hit you up.

Track pump will work, it will just take a long time as they are more about pressure than volume.

£18 bulb to get through the MOT.
Two years sat made the tyres look older but she’s got a 12 month ticket … chapeau 20 year old Volvo .
Now …. What to do with her ? -
• #70989
Stop calling it her?

Just had my MOT and on the history on the government website they failed it at first because the bonnet wouldn't close, and then passed it afterwards when (presumably) they managed to close it normally. There's nothing wrong with the bonnet and it wasn't mentioned to me at all when I collected the car.
What's that all about? Did the mechanic forget how to close a bonnet, fail it and then someone more senior showed him/her how to do it and change it to a pass? Should I complain? Kinda screwed up my MOT history now, makes the car look worse than it is if I were to sell it.

Hey sorry missed the bit was that car pinged by ANPR, am looking to do something similar. Spoke to my insurance and they are OK with the car being CT'd in France and then MOT here i the UK.
My concern is getting hit by APNR fines for no Tax.

Sell at a really high price. Cos that is what is going on
-
• #70993
Sure that they didn't make a mistake while inputting it?
-
• #70994
CT’d?
I didn’t think I could tax it without an MOT.
If I got pinged I’d argue what else could I have done , plus I’ve paid from 01 05 so I’ve back paid anyway .
It’d be a pedantic person that would fine me for that -

No idea but whatever it was it seems a bit dumb that it should show up permanently on my car's MOT history?
-
• #70996
Don't worry about it. Really. Any serious buyer won't give a fuck

CT - Control technique the french equivalent of the MOT but in France it is every two years.
It is my paranoia, as I'm thinking of doing the same with my s type but that that has been out of the country and the V5 isn't in my name and not sure who's name it is in.
-
• #70998
Very dumb, but once the message has been noted it can't be deleted by the MOT center.

How Can an English registered car pass a CT unless you change headlights and speedo etc?
-
• #71000
Not sure about the speedo but it is just what the insurance broker guy said, the CT can show the car is road worthy ish.
They also said book an MOT at the nearest MOT station to the port.
Just chatting about my fear, am deciding if the car is worth returning. Full service of the engine, inc all the belts and then the gearbox service, Suspect that the engine is worth more here than the whole car.
This brought me so much joy.
