Possibly. I don't use Adobe a lot these days and my understanding is my main workhorse (Resolve / Fusion) is fairly well optimised for GPU usage. I was sort of deliberating getting an Studio Ultra a la @Mr_Smyth but can't shake the feeling I would be underwhelmed compared to my already poky PC: 5950x, b550 d, 3090, 64gb 3600 (2x32gb), sn850 4tb
I think it was possibly @ectoplasmosis I was talking to recently about upgrade paths and the best bang for buck/most noticeable increase seemed to be a threadripper.

Whether or not a Threadripper/EPYC will work for you entirely depends on your workload.
They have the advantage of more potential cores (depending on model), vastly more PCIe lanes, 4x the memory bandwidth... with the downside of massively higher power usage and cooling requirements, and lower clockspeeds in the case of EPYC.
I’d look for detailed benchmarks and real-world usage experience with your exact programs/workloads, then make a decision as to whether dumping a load of cash into a new system would be worth whatever improvements you anticipate.

It won't be happening in a hurry : )

Why, when I'm trying to sign into and set up a new phone, is it asking for the passcode to my daughter's iPad?
-
• #19256
Could be because you set up one of your services based on her being the main account, ie App Store, Apple Music, tv, fitness, iCloud storage etc

• #19257
hmm. let me dig into this. flipping flip.

Would anybody (who’s been on the forum for a while and is trustworthy) like to “team up” on get Apple One family subscription?
I am currently main account holder with 3 family members (that are not paying) and have space for two more people.
Subscription is £20 a month with Apple Music (the main thing), Apple TV, Apple Arcade included. There’s also 200gb of iCloud, but I’d continue using it for myself.
£6.50 a month with access to all above instead.
DM if interested.
Thanks

My internet speed on my MacBook keeps slowing to quite a lot less than 1 mbps altho I can see on my phone that the router is getting 100mbps ish. Other devices in the house are not slowing down. Restarting sloves it. Any idea what is going on?

Does anyone have a couple of 8 way switched surge protected extension leads, similar to the photo (not fussed if it’s black or white)
Looking to sort the power situation behind the tv so I can turn individual things off when we’re away/on holiday/not using them, and keep the nas running.
They aren’t that pricey but am trying not to buy electrical bits new. I’ve got a cupboard full of smaller old extensions which are now surplus to requirements, which I’ve got to get rid of somehow as well.
Anyway if you’ve got some and want rid let me know.

Chuck them in your local small electrical recycling bin, did similar recently, felt very cathartic.

yeah did that when the missus moved in and we combined our household electrical goods.
When I get these new switched ones I'll head over to nearest recycling center to dump the leftovers. -

Has anyone needed to use a presentation pointer?
I’ve been doing a couple of keynote presentation/talks recently and being away from my laptop and getting someone else to click through slides isn’t the best way to go.
So was thinking of buying one of theseLogitech R500s Laser Class 1 Presenter Bluetooth and USB / Presentation Clicker - Universal Compatibility, 20m range, Customisable, Smart Battery 12 months usage - Light Grey
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W4DG827/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DYZFF06XV5XHQFX43JDBBut not sure if it works well and/or it’s worth the coin.
Any recommendations or reviews welcome..

Those will work fine, unless the RF environment is challenging or you’re more than ~15m away.
There are also many phone apps which do the same thing for peanuts.
These are the pro industry standard, with a price tag to suit: https://www.interspaceind.com/shop-our-products/product/82-microcue3/category_pathway-50.html

I've used these for years, can recommend, which looks like the older version of what you've linked above.

Damn, clasic dollar to pound sign straight symbol swap for the UK, starting at 1250, roughly 1500 USD.
Air looks a real winner though, plus No Mans Sky... -

Hey everyone. I'm looking to swap my 2020 M1 Mac Mini and a screen for a similar era Macbook Air. Think I'll have any luck and is there anywhere else I could ask this?
1TB, Specs here....

That could also be a software issue and it's not optimized to take advantage of the whole machine. I see that a lot with Adobe software, most of the machine sitting idle with a few blips on the Gpu an 1 core at 100%.
