Anyone have any experience on joining this event for the earliest wave when their start Wave is later?
I would like to join some friends in Wave A but have been allocated Wave F.
Failing that, anyone kind enough with Wave A willing to swap to my Wave F (7am start but you are allowed to join later I believe). Will happily offer beer!

Just depends how cheeky you’re feeling. You just need to nip over the barrier away from a Marshall, who may shout once if they spot you but ultimately won’t give a shit.

I’ve obviously left it way too late for a legitimate entry but my friend’s doing this and I’d like to join him.
Is it possible (and socially acceptable) to just sneak in on an open section of road?

• #2638
Definitely possible

May be of interest - from our clubs forum;
“RL have quietly agreed to local pressure to close the route every 30min for 5min for cars to drive on the route in Great Dunmow - here is their wording from their “Community Access Plan”:
“Cyclists will be stopped on the hour and every half an hour in Great Dunmow so that residents can drive on the event route to enter and exit the area.””

^ That's nothing new, whenever I watched bits of it in Putney they used to allow cars to cross along Upper Richmond Road (the route came down Putney Hill and then Putney High Street). Generally done between groups of riders but some riders were forced to stop to allow the cars through.

Well, my chronic leg and foot issue has decided to flare up and I’ve just discovered a massive gash in the sidewall of one of my tyres, so looking v likely I’m not going to make it all the way round this one.
I’ll be wearing lufguss jersey so say hi if you pass by

Have seen something on Twitter about people leaving tacks on bits of the route. Don't know much more than that, but hope everyone stays safe!

I've got a place for tomorrow, but considering joining at Stratford rather than traipse into town just to cycle back past my house - am I going to get any grief?

Good luck to those attending tomorrow. I'm in wave F. Covid finally caught up to me about 5 weeks ago and I'm still feeling like the battery is empty. Let's see how it goes. Say hi if you see me
