Saw a bi-plane this evening, flying over Billericay in Essex.

Seems fair enough. They applied for an exemption, didn’t get it, went ahead anyway and it went wrong. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Out a walk yesterday and saw a private jet pretty low over east London
Went on flight radar and it was a jet flying from Stansted to City… does that sort of short distance flight happen a lot?
Sure glad I rinsed my tin of tomato’s to recycle it tonight! Save the environment and that!

Just had a Lancaster give me a private flypast at about 1,000 feet, just outside High Wycombe. Magnificent sight and the noise of 4 Merlins was awesome

Ooof. Jubilee practise?

• #2913
I looked it up - apparently a flypast of the Rickmansworth Canal Festival (about 15 miles away). Bit random but who cares
-
• #2914
It's in the air at the moment doing circles above RAF Coningsby (adsb exchange)

Bit random
Northwood is only a couple of miles away. Tenuous, but easy to pay tribute to Hughenden Manor in the same flight, so a kind of twofer

Yes and RAF High Command is at High Wycombe so prob went over there as well. Reminds me I must get a pic of the Hurricane and Spitfire gate guardians

The BBMF can have loads of flypasts at different locations over a weekend - the Lanc was plying its trade around Yorkshire yesterday, and we’ve had a Spitfire through today.

Topgun Maverick .
Y U No F-15?
-
• #2919
Y U No F-15?
Because Topgun is Navy and the F-15 is Air Force
-
• #2920
Is Topgun Navy?
Mmmk
-
• #2921
Is Topgun Navy?
Yep. The basis of the original movie is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_Strike_Fighter_Tactics_Instructor_program
The sequel is set in Naval service too, hence the F/A-18s which replaced the F-14 (and A-6) in the Navy

Northwood
As in HMS Warrior, between Northwood and Watford?

Same place, but it was RAF Northwood during the most recent unpleasantness with the Germans
