Is the four inch pipe for ventilation to the existing sub floor?
-
• #32
Yes it is

Depending on your agreement with the bricks. You could always labour for them. making the muck. Laying the bricks out etc
-
• #34
I did suggest that but found out its a gang of two brickies and a labourer so I'm not needed. I'll get more involved on the fit out hopefully

Did the LA insist on having the wall slightly set back? We had this because of some nonsensical notion of ‘subservience’ ie the new part had to look like an add-on. It drove me nuts at the time but makes no real difference to the end result.

Yes they did at the front, the rear I did to hopefully make the roof easier to construct.
It also will help that I’m using metric bricks 65mm and the existing wall uses 73mm -

Sand blinding nearly completed (using a wackier with a 3 year old asleep is not a good idea)

It’s always bugged the shit out of me that LA want your extension to look different when most people probably want them to look the same
-
• #47
thanks. Probably - I'm used to desk life not grafting!
-
• #48
thanks

• #49
I agree completely. It’s never been explained to my why any extension needs to be subservient to the original build

Had to build a part of the wall to retain the concrete slab which is being poured in the morning. Not great and my just be shuttering and replaced at a later date.
Not going to be visible due to level access through sliding/ folding doors

Good project and fair play.. but If you're looking at finished brickwork everyday you'd be better getting a pro to do it.. Also get it done a lot faster..
