I keep coming back to @Alan_tbt ’s Minnetonka, and came across Barmah’s too. Barmah fold-up’s seem to hold some value on the used market.
Helped someone move yesterday and spent all day outside. Cue sunburn.
Gave in and wore the Panama in the garden today while working.
No slaves in sight ( @Fatberg-Dooks ), only one moron.

Wish I’d worn mine. Shifted a tonne (literally) of gravel in the burning sun and now I’m feeling it. Will dig out the Panama tomorrow.

Pretty much why mine came out. Gravel in the sun is a bitch.

Best source for mid-height trucker caps? Mesh back half, foam front naturally.
My last cap has finally disintegrated after about 18yrs continuous wear, was from a crane rental firm in Texas found in a shoreditch charity shop.I spent over £30 on a Patagonia one a few weeks ago, it’s very nice but the front half is stiff fabric, not foam so basically it’s pointless.
I have a fairly large swede so most baseball caps don’t really fit, only really truckers or presumably the correct size NE but I’ve never worn one of them.

Love me a hat. Can see three flat caps, one kangaroo skin Aussie hat and four baseball caps from where I’m sitting. Favourite is probably a waxed cotton BBC from Barbour.
Would really like to up my game and head to Locke for a bowler…..

What do you call this kind of hat?

Deerstalker?

That seems to mostly mean this kind of thing

Trapper baseball cap?
I have a New Era 59Fifty one.

These only seem to be available in Sherlock Holmes cosplay tweed

This is excellent but I could not pull it off
This seems to be the best so far but still not as good as the Duggee one

'Earflap cap' seems to get some decent results but surely they have a proper name
-
• #242
They're mountain caps surely?
-
• #243
That's a Roly hat surely

Winner!

How is everyone hanging their hats?
In the hall, on the wall, perched on a little nail. My flat is dusty AF, though, so I have to take them down and give them a brush every now and then.

BSB Thruxton at the weekend, had to wear the Minnetonka fold-up and very glad I did.
Definitely happy to have bought one a while ago ready for such occasions. Fold up, throw in the bag, fold out and wear.
It earned its money, both as a sunhat, and a bucket - filling to the brim to throw over my head to cool down in the heat.

At what age does it become acceptable to invest in a Tilley hat? Don't want to go to early and get mocked but go to late and not get maximum value from the lifetime warranty
-

At 35, around bikers, there were surprisingly few comments about the Minnetonka.
I’d say run with it, you gotta set a precedent as early as possible.

No one is gonna mock a great hat!
I also have 3 Tilley’s. Two inherited from my father so they are at least 30 years old and the other from an uncle so that’s around 10. It’s not just a single lifetime guarantee.
Rapha looks ok but the reviews suggest it discolors quickly.
I've had a Nike SB one for the last few summers that I liked. I was trying to avoid the bigger brands this time.
