Cipo used to get off the bike at GTs as soon as he saw a speed bump, tho. As there's only likely to be 1 sprint stage in the last week or so, don't think anybody would begrudge Cav leaving early.

Caleb Ewan has already confirmed he's not going to bother with the hole thing, Cav might as well do the same.

Have to feel a bit for those who have got to drive from Hungary to Etna. Inner ring says it is 1900km by road. Even with shared driving that’s a very long way to do in not much more than 24 hours.

It's great, and pathetically rare, to have a rider say something beyond the usual but the article curiously doesn't mention that there are zero out gay men in pro cycling (as far as I know) and why that might be.

Apparently the team cars will remain there for the tour of Hungary and others are already in Italy. I presume it's the same for all the rest of the support vehicles.

Is there any excitement? No-one with serious GC ambitions wants the jersey yet, so the only reason the GC favourites will make it hard is if one of their perceived rivals is having a bad day (and the chance of that happening tends to increase if there is a rest day the day before).

There is likely to be very little, if any, GC action for all of next week, so a team without GC ambitions taking the jersey by the end of Sunday is what the GC teams are hoping for.

Etna is a contract hunt; earlier compared to Vuelta contract hunts but still. I imagine someone from DSM, mostly Arensman as they pay shit and his contract ends this year.
