I had a joke but someone would report it to HR.
Nice car!

Always had a soft spot for these since loving them as a kid. Beautiful.

Given they're cheap, I'd get a new thermostat first and a new sender for the gauge and see what happens. Are you using an MX5 rad? They make alu versions that I've got that are much better.

Saw that over the weekend too. Looked well out of place.

Swapped sender for ECU and gauge, after around 5 minutes the gauge goes above hot. Fan is not kicking in at this time, suggesting that the ECU doesn't believe the engine is overheating.

Nice cars those but best looking ferrari is taking it a bit far. My preference would still be

I don't blame you!

I'm still a bit confused about the setup so apologies if this doesn't make sense, but could you have accidentally changed the voltage ratio on the ECU (if it's aftermarket/standalone) so the gauge is reading the incoming voltage indirectly?
Could be the fan is just on its way out so it seems like there's a wiring/gauge/sender issue but actually the fan is just semi borked?

Standard ECU, sender and dash.
Fan works well if given 12v and ECU triggers fan off a separate sensor, also new.

Oh I've just reread and I think you've got air in the system based on what you've said.

Could also be a failing or failed waterpump not circulating the water properly.
-
• #70869
Ok good. That's my two thoughts. Hope it's the former.

• #70870
Can you read the temperature via OBD?
-
• #70871
Don't think we have it. Donor car was 1995 Mx5 1.8.

Nurseholiday is probably best to tell you.
Basically trying to rule out gauge and sender issues. Am going through this at the moment

Well I said my favourite... Not the best. Ferrari does bring out the pedantry!
This may be heresy, but I never liked the Dino. Proportions are weird.

Yep. Here's some more heresy: I like the F40 best

I don’t suppose you’d have a home for a hard backed sport seat?
I'd love a go in one of these, spotted this morning. A rarity and reportedly an absolute weapon of a point to point machine in its day, I imagine its great on a tarmac rally or hill climb, but a bit wasted in Tulse Hill...a Noble M400.
