Northern Ireland will always remain sad as long as it’s part of the UK, the only long term solution is for a united, European facing ireland, assisted by the welcome demise of the Catholic church. YMMV
I last visited family in Dublin three years ago and it was really surprising how many of them had turned their backs on the church, and not just the youngsters either.
Other than funerals!
I don’t know anyone who is still a regular catholic church goer any more, even amongst those really steeped in it. A few relatives fell in with some charismatics up in the NW and bother god via them, but other than that it’s all gone very meh.
