Border poll seems to be talked about too much at the moment. I would expect a bigger turnout of that than for these elections and, apparently, it can’t happen at the mo. No doubt, moves will be made to try and organise it.

Your opinion and not necessarily mine. It does strike me as peculiar that some people show support/vote for convicted terrorists. And it has always amazed me that these people are elected to government.
Oddly, I was brought up not to support violence or terrorism which seems to make me a dinosaur. I have tried to instill my values into my daughter but she seems to be getting more polarised in her views and I have no idea why or where she gets her information.
It’s a sad situation but then Norn Iron is a sad place.

Fair point. I don’t know much about the level of terrorism or death in SA. I presume it was similar to here with police and army targeted daily and bombs going off killing and maiming innocents. Pubs getting blown up. People dying and losing limbs. Fire bombs burning people to death. People walking into bars and shooting indiscriminately. I’m not taking sides in the conflict but I do disagree with the death and destruction which accompanies a conflict.

Northern Ireland will always remain sad as long as it’s part of the UK, the only long term solution is for a united, European facing ireland, assisted by the welcome demise of the Catholic church. YMMV

I last visited family in Dublin three years ago and it was really surprising how many of them had turned their backs on the church, and not just the youngsters either.
