I'm heading to the Sunday of Desertfest next Sunday (obvs). Had initially wanted to see Somali Yacht Club but they're obvs not coming now due to the situation in Ukraine.
Any one else going? -

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Sunday looks like it's just a full day in the Roundhouse.

Slift, yes! They played 3 shows at Roadburn last weekend, I was very much impressed with their sound when I saw them last year so I made sure to catch all 3 of them :)

Very excited to be seeing Slift after someone linked their album on here last year (apologies to the original poster, think was an albums of the year round up)

Blimey, I'm pretty deaf and hanging after a day in Camden yesterday. How good were Electric Wizard?!?
The highlight for me was Desert Storm at Underworld. The bassist gave me his set list.
Wolftooth were pretty good too. The sound levels at the Dev were off the charts. Haven't been this deaf after a gig in a long time.

They were great in the Roundhouse 2015.

Anyone off to Tool next week? I couldn't really stump the cost for average tickets but managed to get a place in the work lottery and am going on Monday. Pretty excited TBH. Seeing them at DL19 was one of the best concert going experiences ever.

I went to see them at Birmingham a couple of nights a go, was blown away, everything about it was great. There are a few people in the gigs thread going to see them at the O2
I also sore them at DL19 and the visuals in doors was much better

Anyone seen the double header at hellfest? I've got a few mates going, I feel broken just thinking about it
-

I saw them with Slipknot in Cardiff years ago. Don’t listen to either much now but very influential on my youth. Korn smashed it.

Fully agreed. Saw them at Ozzfest in 2010 and they nailed it then too. Was pretty wrecked by the time they came on but remember JD busting out the bagpipes.

Looking for recommendations.... I used to keep up to date with this kind of stuff back in the early 2000's but haven't bothered for ages.
What's good these days?
I like Electric Wizard / Sleep / Kyuss / Fu Manchu / Iron Monkey / Down / High On Fire / etc etc. Generally Rise Above / Man's Ruin / Earache type things.
Problem seems to be that new stoner / doom / postwhatever stuff seems to be more or less the same as the old stuff but not as good. The fun thing about those genres back then was that they were inventive and good. (Yes I know, they were actually all being completely derivative of 70s rock, bla bla).
So, what are the new genres? Who's doing new things? What's good to zone out to these days? Educate me!
