  • Offer from above is out there for any forumer!

If you want to attempt it yourself and it's a seatpost you can deal with losing, I've got a 36" stillson wrench in SE1, never let me down yet...

  • London Bike Studio are either moving or opening a new unit around the corner (they're currently in Glading Terrace N16). I spotted a notice in the shop window at 9A Evering Road today that said they were opening there. It's currently being worked on.

  • Machine is shortly to become a yoga/pilates studio...

  • Always a pleasure going into Paradise Cycles on Roman Road.

  • Always baffles me how the Hackney Peddler a) price their bikes so highly and b) manage to shift them.

  • innit - because Hackney is now awash with the gen-z / millennial elite all wanting a piece of that sweet sweet vintage velo to virtue signal with ?

  • it's not as if the bikes they're selling are particularly well spec'd or super desirable.

looks like we have a common friend in @NurseHolliday !

  • Happy to be described as ELITE

  • So wish I'd tried this before getting a seatpost removed by a shop with rather brutal damage to the frame :(

  • I might have to borrow this if one of the stubborn posts doesn't budge!

  • Its the 'experience' man. Met a 19 year old recently who was wearing a £20k set of jeans. They had holes in and some glitter applied; was very sure jeans with factory fitted wear holes went out of fashion in 2011.

A good website, and a fine moustache and you can shift anything*

  • You know where to find me!

  • Any experiences of Balfe's in Chiswick? Looking for somewhere in west London to fit a new GRX shifter. Other option near me is the London Cycle Workshop in Hammersmith.

  • Do London cycle workshop. There’s awesome people working there. They know their stuff. Fast turnaround too.

  • Look like Fettle is closing their London Bridge workshop and letting go anyone who work there.

  • Rumour or from the horse's mouth? They seemed to be doing ok.

  • I'm sure they are fine, but potentially inexperienced considering they are new. Very much a retail bike shop.

Stick with London cycle workshop, geared towards service rather then sales, they have always been my go to.

    Bike on King St/Stamford Brook.
Near Goldhwak Road junction. Lovely chaps.

  • London Cycle Workshop are great.

Bike which is over the road charged me for work that wasn't completed and the newer members of staff are pretty rude. It's a real shame because Andy and Paulo - the guys that started it - are really sound and are always super helpful.

  • I've had good times with Balfes, they haven't worked on my bike but are always helpful when parts are needed and have always enjoyed a chat.

There's a chap from SA there thats got some stories.

Way better than Fudges down the road. Way better. Heard good things about London Cyle Workshop and Bike across the street too.

  • Couple of new ones opened up in Stoke Newington. London bike workshop on Evering road (although I think they may have relocated?) and Way Cycles on the highstreet.

  • Yeah their mechanic wages are insanely too good to be true (35k for workshop manager), I’m guessing they ran out of steam and realised they aren’t making that much.

  • They just raised £1.5 million at Christmas but I guess that doesn't last long. They also have grand plans for nation wide expansion but I guess if they can't crack London then that dream will quickly die.
