It was sad he had to tell so many lies but he died happy and had been surrounded by friends in the days leading up to his death. It was a shock after his death when we were trying to organise his affairs to find all this out. We kept it quiet at the time because it might have soured the good will he had generated. It’s now water well gone under the bridge.
He was a lovely lovely fellow. But most of his stories were lies and fabrications. He claimed to have been qualified as an architect in Paris but some old friends confirmed he had not. In fact he had been a cowboy builder and had multiple cases against him for bad building/architectural work and declared bankrupt a few times. Lied about his age, lied about owning where he lived. He claimed his wife had died of natural causes though there was great suspicion about her death and a police investigation.
However to people on here he was a charming generous fellow and many of us loved him dearly.
