  • I'm not quite sure about the legal ins and outs, but is it possible to discuss on here what impact Everton's vice captain "not being able to play" at all this season might have had on the club, and what his team mates must think about the circumstances around it?

I would assume that losing a senior player is disruptive enough, but the circumstances around it must have made it even weirder, as must the fact that no one can openly discuss it in print etc.

  • Who is their vice captain?

  • Siggurdson.

I don’t think that’s the issue. The issue is you buy a lot of bad characters and players who don’t work elsewhere you reap what you sow etc.

    Plus the Frank Lampard thing.

  • I didn't say it was the issue, but it can't have helped.

Your manager leaves, the fans hate the replacement, and then one of the most influential players can't play any more because he's suspected of being a *****.

What a mess. Just wish it was Newcastle.

  • This exchange caused me top lols. Would rep you and @Simpson if I could.

  • Lampard threw the whole team under the bus in his first week or so, probably didn’t help.

  • The issues are much more complex. But ultimately if you don’t have an overarching plan for player recruitment and you change manager regularly then you end up with the squad we have. Walcott and Tosun were bought under Sam Allardyce in 2018/19. Tosun is still here and has barely played in his time at the club. This problem extrapolated over 4-5 managers is why we have such a poor squad and so many nothing players we have spectacularly failed to move on. Yannick Bolassie only left the club at the start of this season, we had Muhammed Besic on our books for 6 (six) years.

  • You still have Tosun?!

    Hahahahahahhahahaha

  • The usual reason clubs can't move players on is because they paid ridiculous fees and salaries that noone else is prepared to match.

  • Cheers. Annoying thing is I barely feel ill so would have been there if it had been anything else. Those last 8 minutes definitely made a difference though.

  • Mino Raiola, whatever public opinion is of the guy his players always absolutely adored him. Needless to say chairmen in general loathed him.

Football will be duller without him.

  • Hands up who thought Everton would end up adopting the ‘wet Tuesday night in stoke’ approach and just stick everyone behind the ball.

    Frank ‘Pulis’ Lampard

This is the only time I’ll say this; Come on Chelsea.

  • It’s the people who think there constantly late niggly pishing pish is “shithousery”

It’s not it’s cunt behaviour and I hope they go down sooner than later.

  • It’s part of the Stoke package. They’re still at it in the championship.

Which is where Everton should be next season.

  • Get everyone booked, maybe a red or two.

Pre made excuse for losing. Perfect.

  • Fucksake Chelsea

  • Just what I came here to post.

  • So shit.
Pickford made some amazing saves but generally Chelsea were slow ponderous and looked like they wanted the season to end so they could get on the beach.

I'm a big admirer of Havertz but how he managed 90 mins I don't understand.

  • Rudiger is thinking of houses in Madrid.

Dreadful and fell to Everton’s level.

  • to be fair to everton they made it difficult and worked thier sox of.

  • Chelsea not getting the memo about how the end of the season is supposed to go. Leeds fans must be feeling pretty edgy all of a sudden.

  • Ooh I can feel the fume from here. Would almost be worth staying up just to see half this thread lose their collective shit.

As for that game, we did exactly what we tried to against Liverpool but got the goal. Could have had two or three to be honest, but equally so could Chelsea. Pickford was out of this world and kept us in the game. And for all the sanctimony and outrage, if anyone’s own team were scrapping for their lives to stay in the division against the top teams, you’d be all for it, and deep down you know it.

  • I was torn between the Everton lols vs Chelsea fully imploding ahead of the FA cup final.

  • He’s got a new car out soon

Is it going to have a second horn that plays a racist chant like the Ineos Grenadier cycle horn?

  • No one wants to see that kind of thing in the game.
