AVgas pays less tax, well in the UK.
Maybe try a small airfield that has piston aeroplanes. You may get lucky.

Finally got one of these today too.

Did the carrier bracket come with it or did you do that? It’s a good solution.

I'm in Norfolk/ Suffolk borders, walking the dog about a little village and 2
ghastlygarishly liveried CBRs came through, similar to pdlouches.
Looked the business in glorious sunshine.Bizarrely being led by a new Africa Twin, not a trio I'd have expected.
Planning a return trip with bike at some point, lovely quiet roads round here

Easily defeat-able, better to get a cheap closed shackle lock on the chain and sprocket.

It’s more as a five minute thing when I stop to go in a shop.
I use Milenco for overnight.
Got this for the other disc.

Came with the bracket, but no other fittings.

It’s similar to the pragmasys roundlock i chuck in my pocket for cafe stops, I might make up a bracket like that to keep it on the bike.
-
• #20835
Yea. I don’t expect it to last 30 seconds if a thief wanted the bike, but it stops it being wheeled away.
If you search the lock you’ll see the bracket. Basically a right angle with a hole.

I hope there is something to remind you it’s on the disc.
Speaking from experience …. -
• #20837
Yea, got a reminder for it.
-
• #20838
You did it too. How much damage to the ego? Was it in front of people?
-
• #20839
Everyone who ever fitted one has done it right?!
-
• #20840
Sorry if I seem like a prick about security, but after having bikes stolen from a locked compound I discovered how easy bike theft is.
-
• #20841
And admits it?
-
• #20842
I'm not saying it ever happened to me but I took to mounting mine as close to the caliper as possible so it's not possible to move a wheels length before you get tipped into the tarmac by a weird and unstoppable force.
-
• #20843
And have a reminder obviously. When I first had mine over 20 years ago the reminder straps weren't really a thing.

@lynx this is an on-the-go solution. Always on the bike for those longer than a minute type stops. I don’t like leaving a bike out of my field of view.
I’m neurotic - the bikes overnight have multiple Milenco locks and ground anchors. It won’t stop theft but it will slow them down and cause some noise.
@Airhead I didn’t have a reminder on a ‘Screamer’ disc lock (with a dead battery) on the XJ600 once. Went to pull away from my sister’s house and felt a thunk! after about a foot. Totally confused me until I remembered the lock. Fortunately no bike drop. Definitely my one and never again.
As you say. Closer to the calliper the better.

Ego was fine. Confusion was rife! It’s an odd feeling when it happens.
Thankfully no damage.
No spectators 😁 -

Managed to drop a r100gs which had a dedicated steering lock on the forks / headstock . Pulled away and couldn’t understand why I was veering off to one side and then over we went.

Hey, just me being the usual arse me.
Yeah all you can do is target harden and hope they move on.

Wasn’t even slightly offended. I don’t think that these small and easy-to-crowbar locks provide anything but a deterrent to the fleeting opportunist.
Thing is, this F3 has nigh-zero under seat storage. You must remove the entire side panel and there’s barely a Pepsi bottle of space in the ‘tool’ compartment. That compartment is currently occupied by the Biker Down first aid kit, which I’d say is a better use of space.
Because the seat pan is kinda awkward in its design compared to removable seats - and the fairing tucks under the cushion against the pan - I’ve been struggling with how to make myself a tail pack that isn’t a ballache to take on and off the bike and doesn’t damage the fairings.

Re. Tail Pack. I used a smallish rucksack and a cargo net - job done! Simple, cheap and it works.
I currently have a great rucksack which would work even better - unfortunately I don’t have a bike! -
• #20850
Yea this was plan-B, as I have an amazing yellow/reflective cargo net to match the bike. I don’t like the thought of heavier goods moving around without anchorage though, as if I’m carrying something it’s probably beer.
Road ride for a change, and new dirt boots too.
