There's a maudlin element of Scottish culture where Country music fits right in.
Country music has its origins in folk music from the British Isles. It's not an accident: it expresses that Scottish maudlin aspect.

We really don't need to reimport it. It's bad enough that, as Billy Connolly used to point out, the Scots buy for themselves the same tacky tourist tat they sell to the tourists. We still have Harry bloody Lauder's ghost kicking around, we don't need yodelling cowboys as well.
Nobody needs yodelling cowboys.

I've been to Millport during the country festival. Odd place.

My wife would disagree, I don’t mind some legit western yodeling once in awhile.

Piers Morgan.
Obnoxious, odious cunt of the highest order.

Sounds like you get him just fine.

Country music and the dress up like cowboys thing that seems to go alongside it.
*Recalls living in Belfast in the 1980s with country singer parents who left the house most nights dressed in fringed shirts and 10-gallon hats with guitars over their shoulders while the country blew up around us.
What you grow up with, you don't see as weird...

Thanks for this, listening now.
Country is big in ireland, especially with older folks. There's a decent cross over with trad and rebel songs. Like all music there's better and worse stuff about. I'd actually like to listen to more country.

Leatherman scissors.
They've been around for what? 40yrs now? They have the R&D to bring to market a load of revisions, new models, useless tat, etc.
Surely they can put some budget towards making some scissors to at least get close to an SAK.

There's some really good contemporary country coming out at the moment. I'm a huge fan of Colter Wall, the most incredible voice you'll ever hear in a 22 year old! Proper songs too. Also worth checking out Jason Isbell (has some lovely tiny desk performances), Charley Crockett, Orville Peck, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton etc.. Also I'm With Her, who are sort of country-adjacent have some wonderful stuff....

Agreed, he's great!

Not a fan of Orville Peck, such a dead voice IMO.
Check “Come Cry With Me” by Daniel Romano. He’s a chameleon but this album is straight up.

Each to their own, of course, I really like the theatricality of his songwriting and performance. Roses Are Falling
is a stonecold banger. Plus having a flamboyantly gay Country singer is GREAT for messing with the heads of the hardcore fans....Funnily enough I was listening to Daniel Romano today. Leaves me a bit cold, but some nice tunes.
Pop Country is the worst. Of all the things to Cosplay I don't understand why people choose to Cosplay white trash racist Republicans.
