We have a bunch of private little free libraries in our neighbourhood, they get smashed and burned periodically but people just put ‘em right back up.
Cost of doing culture I guess.

We had one by the marina when I lived on the water - most of the time it was used really well, but occasionally most of the books would get thrown into the water. We eventually found out the culprit was the local alcoholic crack-fiend. He was usually lovely, but could be a handful when on a binge.

Ha, I imagine it’s either kids or addicts doing the damage around here, though who knows, could be a deranged anti-reader.
