That's fine. But this is not about culture or "we've always done that".
Bar and hood placement is like indexing. It's ok with me if you don't like shifting gears flawlessly. But just know it can be perfected.

I see. I guess I look at these images and cannot see the nuances of what is being identified. Some look visually bad to me and some look fine, but I’m unable to detect the common theme, even though bdhu should explain itself. Also if folks saw/heard how my gears shift, they would kick me off the forum. I have a high tolerance for badly functioning bikes.

Funny you should mention that, as I'm not entirely sure that I want to keep it
Riding drop bars on the road, while I progressively get slower and slower is really losing its appeal
Edit - maybe I should just fit some offroad tyres to it and be a gravel bro

That's a good example, flat, level, looks neat and fast.

By bars and hoods have both crept upwards over the years to accommodate my wrecked back. I always thought chunky Shimano shifters looked terrible on my classic frames but found SRAM and campy super uncomfortable. Partly due to years of trying to ride everything "slammed" I now can't ride either of these bikes at all anyway :(

How would youget that transition any more level? Hoods up would result in a change of angle from bars to hoods. You can either have level but with a dip at the transition, or you can have smooth transition with a slight upwards turn, both at once very difficult
Thread is lols btw a welcome distraction from work

FFS. I am already bored doing this. Just delete the thread admin. I've got to spend my time elsewhere.

Cheers for that (black Time)! That's set my nervous twitch off again.

All I'm wondering here is why what appears to be a weightweenie ( Darimo stem ) build, has what looks to be a rather chunky brake rotor

Ooh! What bottle cages are those? Please and thank you.

They're the regular ( not side loading ) GT40

Bars needs to rotate down and levers need to go up on the bars

Thank you, nice price too.
Those are not "bars down, hoods up"
