This thread is vicious. There may be blood.

Is this good or bad

I've spent too much time staring/wasting at own projects figuring out correct angles for various bars and hood transitions.
The most difficult to get right by far is the Neo Classic bend. The classic drop wants to level itself to the floor, but then the bend just fucks up shimano hood and lever placement in general guidelines.

I go for everything parallel, flat part of the drops - hoods - stem - top tube. It's just about achievable with shimano and sram but the bar does indeed make the shifters 'twist' outwards :(
Like this:
also prevents you from running hoods turned in which I would prefer -

Neo classic is the ultimate truth.

after reading this thread i suddenly feel a lot mentally heathier, relative, to the average drop bar user

Only when slightly tilted up, about 10-15° from floor level.
I actually like the EvoMax a bit more, it's all in the flare. -

Have you posted about this bike elsewhere
I posted a photo of it in the main current projects thread a couple of years ago, but nothing else really, as it's just been swapping bars, stems and tyres since then
Apologies to the OP for the droopy hoods

Show us this from the side, coward

I like this a lot, very handsome mix of classic and modern. Looks good in your size too. How do you like riding it?

It's wrong imo.
I won't be sharing stuff I like here. This thread is primarily because @simba and @spotter suggested I started a thread about the topic.
Again it is not about calling people out. It is more an outlet for my frustrations. Apparently the correct position of levers and bars in relation to the other is tricky and this is a collection of image that points out when it isn't correct - IN MY OPINION. But others can join in this if they wish. I am also ready for arguments.
Obviously people can do whatever they wish to IRL.

upon close inspection maybe the hoods could be a smidge higher.. -
• #92
That looks solid for a road bike. For CX I'd put levers up a bit.
-
• #93
Yeah man 8-)
I'm switching to neo classics (but I will probably ask my LBS to do it with a service) and this is how I want them

turning the shifters inwards was the only thing that managed to make me comfortable on the 10 speed sram red levers. makes it pretty nasty to wrap though
-
• #96
am i doing it right?
-
• #97
Yes but cross is different as the drops aren’t used.
-
• #98
always decend in the drops
-
• #99
for like 2 secs.
IMO that hood/bar set up is fit for purpose, but best to check in with OP. Way above my pay grade.

Little bit ‘velominati’ for me, this.
